As you’ll no doubt have heard by now, Pocketpair’s Palworld is off the a flying start. The game has sold in excess of four million units within it’s first week of launch, and set a Steam record for concurrent players. However, Palworld remains an early access title. There are bugs; many bugs. But there’s one Palworld bug you’ll want to avoid at all costs.

Palworld players have frequently been encountering many bugs in the game. As an Early Access title, that’s to be expected. And given the popularity of the game, more players doing more different things would surely end up with more unexpected results. Multiplayer disconnects, ‘pals’ becoming stuck on objects, missing inventory items and more are pretty common, but can be solves with a simple restart. There’s one Palworld bug however, that is apparently ‘impossible to recover’ from.

The bug can be caused by simply using an item. While it may not affect every player who uses the item, the bug has become pretty widespread in Palworld. So much so, that developers Pocketpair are advising players not to even attempt to us the item.

Palworld Memory Reset Bug

The ‘Memory Reset Drug’ is an item that lets players reset their stat points. These are earned through levelling-up your player through a wide variety of activities, and when spent on health and attack stats can be vital for the game’s high-end boss encounters and dungeon instances. However, the use of the item may well see players burdened with a permanent reduction in capture power.

Developer Pocketpair posted the following to the game’s official Discord: “Currently, using the item ‘Memory Reset Drug’ that resets the player’s status may reduce the player’s capture power and make it impossible to recover. We are currently investigating this issue, so we apologize for the inconvenience, but please refrain from using it until the investigation/correction is complete.”

Given the popularity of Palworld, this issue will surely be overcome quickly. However, there’s no saying whether or not players who have already experienced the issue will see a fix. Hopefully, no one will be left with a save game that is doomed forever.
