QUByte Interactive is set to publish Match Village later this month. Developed by Rising Moon Games, the game takes a unique approach to the city building sim, delivering a minimalistic approach not too dissimilar to VR favourite, Little Cities.
Match Village is a minimalistic puzzle and strategy game. You’ll take charge of development of an empty land, combining buildings to build villages on beautiful, procedurally generated islands. Clearly inspired by matching and idle games on smartphones, Match Village brings a new side to the city building sim by removing the stat-heavy approach.
You can enjoy a minimalistic and relaxing atmosphere, with no resource management. No tax management, civilian requirements of armies. Instead, you just focus on building.
Match Village Trailer
The game promises to deliver intuitive gameplay through simplified building mechanics. You can play across an infinite amount of randomly generated islands, taking things at your own pace. You don’t need to worry about resources at all. If you have an idea, simply go ahead and build it!
As can be seen in the above Match Village trailer, the gameplay revolves around a tile system. Building a specific tile will give you access to new elements. Building several of identical tiles adjacent to one another will upgrade said element, unlocking further opportunities. It’s a simple looking system that could certainly afford significant depth. Whether or not the game can compete with the likes of Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, Endzone: A World Apart or even the classic Sim City remains to be seen. However, we’re certainly willing to give it a try.
The game is set to release on 14th March, 2024. Match Village will launch simultaneously on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
