HEXWORKS has today delivered the final milestone in the post-launch roadmap for Lords of the Fallen. Version 1.5, Master of Fate gives player the power to fully customise their gameplay experience with the ‘Advanced Game Modifier System’.

Lords of the Fallen

CI Games launched Lords of the Fallen last year as a reboot of the middling Lords of the Fallen (2014). Sadly, the decade of space has not seen many new fans coming to the franchise, though the reboot is not without its audience. In fact, the game sold over 1 million units in its first month on sale.

Since launch, developer HEXWORKS has worked diligently to update the game. A mix of quality-of-life (QOL) updates and new features have been thrown into the mix. And today’s new update marks the end of the ‘launch’ roadmap for Lords of the Fallen, bringing a huge new feature to the game.

Lords of the Fallen - Master of Fate roadmap

Master of Fate Update

Version 1.5 of Lords of the Fallen, known as Master of Fate, is a free update. This new update is the culmination of over 30 updates since launch, resulting in significant improvements to performance, stability and optimisation, alongside rigorous difficulty balancing in response to user feedback. Details of the update are as follows:

  • Significant performance, optimisation and stability improvements.
  • Rigorous difficulty balancing including mob density reduction & nerfed ranged attacks.
  • Split PvP and PvE game balancing.
  • Online multiplayer enhancements for improved matchmaking and connection stability.
  • New questlines including Season of the Bleak, Trial of the Three Spirits, and Way of the Bucket.
  • New armour and weapon sets.
  • Additional secret boss weapon abilities.
  • Improved boss encounters with additional movesets & new AI.
  • 12 new spells including the arena-devastating Immolation.
  • New grievous strikes: each weapon family now features two unique finishers: one for single-handed wielding and another for two-handed two-handed wielding.
  • Three new projectiles: Blood Vomit, Explosive Mines, and Frost Worms.
  • QOL updates including: Inventory expansion, appearance reset, storage functionality & gamepad rebinding.

Available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation5, the update also delivers the final milestone of the game’s extensive post-launch roadmap: the Advanced Game Modifier System.

Advanced Game Modifier System

The Advanced Game Modifier System allows players to tweak seven different aspects of the game. These include randomised enemy spawns, random loot-drops, a variable mob density and an Ironman mode for the most daring challengers. This effectively turns the souls-like into a rogue-lite

Saul Gascon, Executive Producer and Head of Studio, HEXWORKS, said: “We’d like to thank the many players who have embarked upon Mournstead since we launched six months ago. Their belief in our vision has been a real driving force for us. In response to their support for the game, we expanded the period of live support for Lords of the Fallen with an ambitious post-launch roadmap. This was built around four significant content updates, alongside numerous smaller releases, which included tons of new content and major performance and stability improvements. Reaching Version 1.5 with the Master of Fate update and its genuinely groundbreaking modifier system marks the completion of that roadmap, making the Lords of the Fallen experience the best it’s ever been.”

Lords of the Fallen Future Roadmap

With the launch roadmap now finalised, there’s no word on what’s coming next for Lords of the Fallen. Whether or not HEXWORKS will come forward with a new phase is unknown. However, if you’re yet to pick up the game you can currently do so with a 50% discount for Lords of the Fallen on PlayStation Store.

Of course, the game is also significantly discounted on Amazon.
