The fourth Thor film has been confirmed for release in early 2022. That much we know, and also we know we’ll see the return of some familiar characters. But what about the Thor: Love and Thunder director? That honour goes to Taika Waititi.
Waititi takes the helm for his second Marvel Cinematic Universe after winning audiences worldwide with Thor: Ragnorak. He appeared in that film – and subsequently in Avengers: End Game – to voice the fan favourite Korg. However, there’s much more to Waititi’s career than Thor.
Thor: Love and Thunder Director – Taika Waititi
Waititi shot to fame with Thor: Ragnorak, but is more than a one-hit-wonder. He’s also set to direct and upcoming Star Wars movie as well as sports drama Next Goal Wins. Furthermore, his future entails a return of the cult classic Flash Gordon franchise. Not bad, Waititi. Not bad at all.
Waititi recently commented on the development and his opinions as Thor: Love and Thunder director in an interview with Total Film magazine.
“We’re still writing Love and Thunder, and I think it’s good to just keep writing, and then you know, we’ll have a really, really good script.
“And with writing, especially, you should use as much of that time as possible to get your story right, because you never really get it later on. Film is an industry where you’re always complaining about not having enough time. I think, right now, we’ve given ourselves a huge amount of time to work on all sort of things, so we may as well use it.”

As well as directing, Waititi has turned his hand to screenplay writing and voice acting. He has even appeared in Rick and Morty alongside Maneater voice actor Chris Parnell.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release in early 2022. Originally scheduled for late 2021, there’s more than one reason that date has been moved.
