Guinness has revealed their list of Top 50 video game characters of all time. The list was compiled using the results of a public poll on the Guinness website. The poll, which had over 13,000 voters, was then compiled into a list of the top 50 characters of all time. In the list, Mario, unsurprisingly, takes the prize as best video game character.

The top five is what you would expect as Mario takes the No.1 spot, followed by Link, Master Chief, Solid Snake and Cloud Strife. Unsurprisingly, the Top 10 list is identical to that which Guinness revealed back in 2011. I guess some things never change.

Master Chief Best Video Game Character

There are a few curve balls a bit further down the list. The Prince from Prince of Persia certainly didn’t appear in earlier polls for the most popular video game character. And Larry Laffer above Street Fighter‘s Ryu? Please.
