Confirmed for a summer launch earlier this month, Time on Frog Island did the rounds at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), San Francisco, this week. For those unable to attend the event, publisher Merge Games offers a new Time on Frog Island trailer.
Time on Frog Island is a new sandbox puzzle adventure game. The player enters the shoes of a sailor who is shipwrecked on a strange island after a terrible storm. He awakes to find his boat in ruins. Clutching his precious potted plant, the sea dog goes about trying to fix his boat and find his way home. However, the peculiar frog-like locals don’t speak his language and they aren’t about to give up the items he needs without something in exchange.
A spaghetti network of trades will take you all over this strange island. Seeking out materials you need to fix your boat, you’ll engage in numerous tasks and challenges. The game is designed to be a relaxing adventure. You can explore at your own pace. Make friends with the somewhat bizarre cast. Solve puzzles and discover hidden treasures.
The new Time on Frog Island trailer gives an introduction to the game. Revealing the opening through a very enthusiastic series of reactions from the sailor, and subsequently chasing a frog–dog-like creature. Viewers will quickly learn this is not a game to take seriously. From chasing this creature to finding eggs and even baiting fish, the game provides a wide variety of tasks. Time on Frog Island is a game that allows you to play at your own pace, setting your own challenges.
