Next month is filling gup nicely with horror films for all you avid scare fanatics. The likes of The Exorcist: Believer and Pet Sematary: Bloodlines are due at the beginning of the month. Then there’s Amber Heard’s (Aquaman, Drive Angry) latest, In The Fire, which has just seen a new trailer released.

Heard’s first film since 2021, In The Fire takes place in 1890s Columbia. “A doctor from New York travels to a remote plantation in the 1890s to care for a disturbed boy who seems to have inexplicable abilities,” the synopsis explains. “She begins treating the child, but in doing so ignites a war of science versus religion with the local priest who believes the boy is possessed by the Devil and is the reason for all the village’s woes.”

Alongside Heard, the film stars Lorenzo McGovern Zaini, Sophie Amber, Luca Calvani, and Yari Gugliucci. In The Fire is directed by Conor Allyn (No Man’s Land, Walk.Ride.Rodeo).

“The film is a meditation on the almost supernatural powers of love told through a strong-willed and independent woman at the turn of the 20th century,” said Heard earlier in the year. “I feel honoured to be part of this labour of love and to be the lead in Conor Allyn’s vision. I feel lucky to be surrounded by such an amazing cast. They’re as dedicated and magical as the characters they play.”

In The Fire will be released in cinemas and on-demand on Friday, 13th October 2023. Take a look at the new trailer below.

Also on the list of Halloween fright fests are Five Nights at Freddy’s, It Lives Inside, Shaky Shivers and more. Offering plenty of jumpscares for theatregoers!
