CinemaCon 2023 this week has treated film fans with a brand new trailer for The Flash. Scheduled to hit theatres on 16th June, the action-packed trailer features more of Michael Keaton as Batman. It also highlights the consequences of trying to change the past and the chaos it creates in its wake.
As revealed in the first The Flash trailer, Barry Allen – played by Ezra Miller – uses the Speedforce to try and bring his parents back. Allen succeeds, but in doing so ‘breaks the universe’ altering realities where Superman no longer exists, there’s another Barry Allen and there are now two Batmen, Keaton and Ben Affleck.
Old foes and new faces
The new trailer puts Keaton front and centre, talking about how his Batman lost his parents. Saying how “that pain made me who I am”, he goes on to add that he: “spent a lifetime trying to right the wrongs of the past as if fighting crime would bring my parents back.” After a dramatic pause, he goes to Allen: “you actually did it.”
Bring his parents back he did, but his actions also see the return of General Zod, seemingly the main villain. This time around Henry Cavill’s Superman isn’t there to save the day. In this alternate universe – which kickstarts the new DC Universe – we see the arrival of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.
There’s a brief glimpse at the second Barry Allen in a different – but still red suit – and plenty of Batwing action.
One rumour that’s been floating around regarding The Flash movie main villain was that it might not be General Zod. It had been suggested that Dark Flash might make an appearance. There was no suggestion in the trailer that this might be the case, which might disappoint fans.
In any case, there are now less than two months to go until release day. Are you looking forward to The Flash this summer? Let us know in the comments below.
