The news on Mortal Kombat 1 won’t stop coming. Officially revealed back in May, we’ve got an upcoming stress test, beta and gameplay footage that was showcased earlier this month. That footage revealed a selection of the Mortal Kombat 1 roster, but a new Mortal Kombat 1 leak hints at some deep cuts for the final line-up.
This new Mortal Kombat 1 leak comes from – you guessed it – Reddit. User MarkT_D_W recently shared a wealth of supposed Mortal Kombat 1 information on r/Mortalkombatleaks, with such tidbits as Mortal Kombat 1 getting rid of the Krypt from the last three entries. This fact has now been confirmed, so there’s that. Still worth taking the following with a grain of salt, however.
Also included in the leak was the alleged playable roster. This is said to feature 24 characters in total. 19 of these were listed, with a mix of previously confirmed Mortal Kombat 1 characters and newly-revealed names from the franchise’s history.

Leaked Mortal Kombat 1 Character Roster
- Havik
- Reiko
- Nitara
- Li Mei
- Ashrah
- Sub-Zero
- Scorpion
- Smoke
- Reptile
- Liu Kang
- Kung Lao
- Raiden
- Shang Tsung
- Kitana
- Mileena
- Tanya
- Sindel
- Johnny Cage
- Kenshi
Many of the names included in this Mortal Kombat 1 leak will be readily familiar to fans of the series. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon recently hinted at Mortal Kombat 4 fighters would appearing in Mortal Kombat 1, and here we have some such names. Other big names include Havik from Mortal Kombat: Deception, Nitara from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and Li Mei, who hasn’t appeared in a mainline game since 2006’s Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
To reiterate, this Mortal Kombat 1 leak isn’t official. The content should be met with caution until it is confirmed by NetherRealm. Furthermore, the roster is incomplete. Despite the continuing trend for leaks, NetherRealm could have more surprises for Mortal Kombat 1 fans.
Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on 19th September, 2023. The game will be available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
