Over the past few months Games Workshop has been dropping plenty of information regarding Warhammer’s Cities of Sigmar army. New Freeguild Marshals and Fusil-Major on Ogor Warhulk’s are coming and so too is a new battletome. But this also means there are units leaving the range, to find new homes and uses elsewhere.
With a new Battletome: Cities of Sigmar on the way, those wielding mortal armies in the Mortal Realms have lots to look forward to. A new General alongside new infantry, cavalry, gunners and more are set to join the ranks. Whilst several current units including the Steam Tank, Celestial Hurricanum, and Imperial Griffon will remain active.
Similarly, the Duardin and Aelves will still feature in the new battletome but their presence won’t be so prominent. The battletome is far more focused on mortal humans this time around, so entire entirely Duardin or Aelven armies are more limited.
Out with the old and in with the new
With a new tranche of miniatures on the horizon means a selection of older models will be leaving the Warhammer Age of Sigmar range. In fact, 13 models have been taken off the roster. These are:
- Freeguild General on Foot
- Freeguild Crossbowmen/Freeguild Handgunners
- Freeguild Guard
- Helblaster Volley Gun/Helstorm Rocket Battery
- Freeguild Polisters/Freeguild Outriders
- Freeguild Greatswords
- Demigryph Knights
- Flamespyre Phoenix/Frostheart Phoenix
- Phoenix Guard
- Wildwood Rangers/Eternal Guard
- Sisters of the Thorn/Wild Riders
- Araloth/Noble Prince
- Shadow Warriors/ Sisters of Avalorn
Fear not, as these models still have their place. Most of these classic miniatures have a similar type in the new tome like the Wildwood Rangers becoming Executioners. On the other hand, they’ll also find a home in Warhammer: The Old World, becoming reinforcements for the High Elves, the Wood Elves, and the Empire.
No word on when the Battletome: Cities of Sigmar will arrive so stay tuned.
