Such is the film industry in 2023, that more and more films are seeing their release dates rescheduled. Whilst those not already finished have been delayed indefinitely. The latest movie to be affected by the strikes is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, although thankfully only by a month.
The sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, this follow-up was due for release on 14th March 2024. Part of Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. MonsterVerse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will now arrive in theatres on 12th April.

Godzilla vs. Kong Sequel
Just like the Dune: Part Two delay, Legendary and Warner Bros. are blaming the ongoing labour strikes engulfing Hollywood. The reason is that actors aren’t able to do press tours to promote the film. Thus reducing the chance of a successful theatrical run. How much this would’ve actually affected a film already penned for 2024 is unknown, but the studios are using the excuse nonetheless.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire continues the story from the 2021 film, after Godzilla and Kong’s explosive showdown.
“An all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own,” the synopsis explains. “The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
Godzilla x Kong stars Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, and Brian Tyree Henry, with Adam Wingard returning to the director’s chair.
In addition to the film, the MonsterVerse is coming to the small screen. Monarch: The Legacy of Monsters is coming to Apple TV+ at a later date.
