Earlier this summer Netflix and Aardman Animation confirmed the long-awaited return of the Chicken Run franchise. Due for release in December, a new teaser trailer has arrived for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.
Alongside the new trailer, details have also been released regarding the cast. There’s a huge selection of stars in the movie including Thandiwe Newton as Ginger, Zachary Levi taking over Mel Gibson’s role of Rocky, Bella Ramsey as Molly and Imelda Staunton as Bunty. Joining them are Peter Serafinowicz playing Reginald Smith and Miranda Richardson returning as Mrs Tweedy. Plus there’s Lynn Ferguson (Mac), David Bradley (Fowler), Jane Horrocks (Babs), Romesh Ranganathan (Nick), Daniel Mays (Fetcher) and Josie Sedgwick-Davies (Frizzle).
The chickens are loose!
The original Chicken Run (2000) saw Rocky, Ginger and the gang escape the clutches of the evil Mrs Tweedy farm. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget carries on the story, with the group finding a peaceful sanctuary away from humans. She and Rocky have even hatched a little girl called Molly, making Ginger’s happy ending seemingly complete.
However, Mrs Tweedy isn’t going to be stopped, unleashing a new threat on chicken-kind. So Ginger, Rocky and the crew set out on an adventure to stop her. They’ll stop at nothing even if it means putting their own hard-won freedom at risk.
Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget airs on Netflix on 15th December 2023. Ahead of its online release, the film will make its debut at the London Film Festival in October.
