Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed launched last year to a great amount of anticipation. The game’s asymmetric 4v1 gameplay joins a currently booming trend, and is a perfect fit for the source material. It was well received, and as such, one year-on the game is still getting new content. And now, new players have the new Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition to look forward to.
In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Ray and Winston open the Firehouse to the next generation of Ghostbusters. That is, you and three of your friends. Players will either be part of a team of Ghostbusters, or a singular Ghost. In case you couldn’t guess, the ghost player has to scare NPCs and avoid getting caught, while the Ghostbusters have to, well, bust the ghost.
The fan service is laid on pretty thick in the game. But it’s also welcoming to those less interested in the IP and ore so in the multiplayer action. Chit Hot delivered a Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed review at launch, stating: “Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is an easy recommendation for quick Halloween thrills.”

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition
Set to arrive almost exactly one year after the launch of the original game, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition is available to pre-order now. The package includes the base game and all four DLCs, priced at just $19.99 USD.. That’s a significant drop from the game’s initial launch price.
The digital edition will launch on 19th October, 2023. A physical edition will also be available from Nighthawk Interactive later in the year. No specific date has yet been announced for this release. Additionally, at present this new edition seems to be only confirmed for Nintendo Switch.
