If you’ve been feeling that there haven’t been enough spy capers of late don’t worry. Argylle, the latest film from The Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn is due for release early in 2024. And now the first trailer for Argylle featuring its star-studded cast has arrived.

The trailer starts out like a classic spy movie, guns, danger and lots of lavish excess with Henry Cavill (Argylle) dancing with Dua Lipa who seemingly plays a villain. However, all is not as it seems, because Argylle is a fictional super spy created by introverted writer Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard). Her life is then turned upside down when her fictional world accidentally emulates the real one a bit too closely. Conway then finds herself hunted by some real-life spies.

Argylle First Trailer

A collaboration between Apple and Universal, Argylle will be familiar to fans of Vaughn’s previous The King’s Man movies. “I’m guilty of being part of creating a clichéd culture of spies. I just love the idea of doing a spy movie that takes all the tropes and then turns it on its head,” Vaughn told Vanity Fair.

Alongside Cavill, Lipa and Howard, they’re joined by Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, and Samuel L. Jackson. Rockwell is the real-life spy sent to protect Conway from Cranston, the leader of a rogue espionage group who finds her writing a little too accurate. Cue plenty of action and hilarity as she tries to uncover the truth.

The script is written by Jason Fuchs, produced by Cloudy Productions and Vaughn’s regular collaborators Adam Bohling and David Reid.

Argylle will be released in cinemas on 2nd February 2024. An Apple TV+ launch date will take place later.
