Normally, film trailers tend to be released days or weeks before the intended launch. But that’s not the case with director David Fincher’s latest production, The Killer. Starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton, The Killer trailer arrived the same day as its theatrical release, with a Netflix launch still to come.
The director behind iconic films such as Se7en, Fight Club and more recently Gone Girl, Fincher casts Fassbender as a deadly assassin. But all is not well, as the synopsis explains: “After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.”

The Killer Trailer
As you’ll see in the trailer below, Fassbender’s assassin has many disguises, routines, and methods of mayhem. “If I’m effective, it’s because of one simple fact. I. Don’t. Give. A. F**k,” he quips.
The Killer has been adapted from the 1998 graphic novel by writer Alexis “Matz” Nolent and artist Luc Jacamon. Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en) wrote the screenplay. Alongside Fassbender and Swinton, the movie stars Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Sala Baker and Sophie Charlotte, among others.
Premiering at the Venice International Film Festival in September – where it did receive a prestigious Golden Lion nomination – The Killer arrived in select theatres on 27th October 2023. The Netflix launch takes place on 10th November.
