Did you enjoy the recently released trailer for The Garfield Movie? If you did then here’s more good news, lead voice actor Chris Pratt has confirmed that production on the new Garfield movie has now resumed.
Taking to Instagram, Pratt shared a behind-the-scenes photo of him restarting his voice acting duties, with a mic and an image of the lasagne-loving cat in the background. Like many films, the movie was impacted by the summer SAG-AFTRA strikes which saw most projects shut down. This also meant the theatrical release schedule was thrown into chaos, with studios constantly reshuffling and pushing back release dates.
The Garfield Movie Resumes!
Thankfully, Pratt’s Instagram post highlights the fact that The Garfield Movie is well underway. And therefore its theatrical launch on 24th May 2024 should be unaffected. Currently, it is set to be one of the biggest animated films for next year. Just like Pratt managed earlier this year with The Super Mario Bros.Movie.
Joining Pratt are Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein and Bowen Yang. The Garfield Movie sees the Monday-hating cat reunite with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat called Vic (Jackson). All the family favourites are still there, owner Jon Arbuckle (Hoult) and Garfield’s canine friend Odie.
The story sees the gang “forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist,” explains the official synopsis.
Joining Garfield on the resumed production schedule, Tron: Ares is set to restart very soon. Plus Dune: Part Two‘s release date has been moved up. No word on Deadpool 3 at the moment.
As The Garfield Movie resumes production, are you a fan of the ginger cat? He’s been around for over 40 years and still remains popular to this day.
