Back in the hazy days of 2020, Catchweight Studio launched a Kickstarter campaign for an upcoming survival horror game, Conscript. The concept was simple: a Resident Evil inspired top-down survival horror game, set in World War I. So simple in fact, that people immediately fell in love with it. Now, four years later, Team17 Digital has picked up the publishing rights, and are planning on full launches for both PC and consoles.

What is Conscript?

Conscript takes players deep into the trenches of the First World War. A survival horror experience inspired by the classics of the genre, the game is set in the Battle of Verdun in 1916. You’ll take on the role of a lone French soldier searching for his missing brother, scavenging for supplies and solving complex puzzles.

“With Conscript, I aimed to immerse players in the grim reality of World War I while delivering the tense, gripping gameplay that survival horror fans know and love. I can’t wait to bring this experience to both PC and console players later this year and am especially excited to see the game on the shelves,” shares Jordan Mochi, founder and solo developer at Catchweight Studio.

The game promises to deliver classic survival horror gameplay with high replayability. Various difficulty settings, multiple endings, unlockable costumes, and bonus weapons create an enduring proposition. You’ll navigate intricate, interconnected WW1-themed areas while solving environmental puzzles and managing resources effectively.

The Road to Launch

As stated above, Conscript initially came to light via a Kickstarter back in 2020. The game became a huge success on the platform. Since then, solo developer Jordan Mochi has launched multiple variations on a demo for PC gamers. Each of which earning more popularity than the last.

Now, Team17 Digital has partnered with Mochi to cross the finishing line. The publisher will bring the game to both PC and consoles soon.

Conscript Launch Plans

The big news is that another demo is coming to PC. on 10th June, 2024, PC gamers will get to taste the latest that Conscript has to offer. This will be followed by a full launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. A physical edition is also planned.
