Improx Games’ brain-teasing puzzle adventure game The Last Cube is heading to PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Slated for a 10th March, 2022, release the game presents a series of surreal otherworldly landscapes. It’s up to you to discover the history of this uncanny alien civilization.
The Last Cube is an atmospheric puzzle game about guiding a cube through a plethora of monolithic chambers. As you do so, you’ll uncover the story behind this peculiar world. Players will explore a wide array of brutalist architecture. Ranging from foggy nightmarish abysses, to oppressive lava lit factories, the game will also bring you through uplifting natural landscapes full of golden rays of sunshine glistening against mountains. The game promises an uplifting soundtrack and an abstract story of a dying world on the cusp of ruin. The Last Cube has all the potential to deliver a moody, mysterious puzzler.
The game features a unique ‘sticker’ system. This allows players to ‘stamp’ abilities onto your cube’s sides, granting all new abilities for that surface. Some will allow you to dash through barriers, others will create makeshift stairs. Some grant the ability to spin in place for easy manoeuvring in tight places. It’s the use of these abilities that will challenge the player as they engage in over 100 puzzles. According to Improx Games, new mechanics are introduced regularly, rapidly expanding the perception of what your cube is capable of.
“The Last Cube has come a long way since its inception in 2017 and has grown into a far more ambitious project than we ever could have imagined,”
“The final result is a rich puzzle experience whose gameplay is full of joyful aha-moments and surprises, set in very diverse, colorful [sic], eerie and mysterious environments of the Cube Planet. We think casual and hardcore puzzle fans alike will be enamoured by its gradually evolving mechanics and wealth of secrets when The Last Cube launches on March 10th.”
