The likes of Roblox, Pokémon Go and League of Legends and roots in other gaming media. However, Candy Crush Saga and Honor of Kings have made the list based purely on their wide appeal.

Honor Of Kings and Peacekeeper Elite are both published by Chinese giant Tencent. These games earned a whopping $2.45 and $2.32 billion USD, respectively. They represent not only the most profitable free-to-play titles, but also the highest earning of all mobile games.

Surprisingly absent from the list is Epic Games’ Fortnite. It’s been suggested that the removal from the App Store has hurt the bottom line significantly. However, the ongoing lawsuit may change this soon enough.

Selecting the best free mobile games of 2020 shouldn’t simply be based on revenue, however. There are many groundbreaking and innovative titles that build strong audiences of their own. For example, despite high praise, Genshin Impact did not make the Top 10. This could however be due to the game launching in the last quarter of 2020.
