After the Five Nights At Freddy’s teaser trailer dropped in May, we’ve been excited to see more of this upcoming horror movie. Universal Pictures has kindly provided the first official trailer giving fans a better look at the perils lead actor Josh Hutcherson will face.
If you’re already a Five Nights At Freddy’s fan you’ll know Hutcherson is in for a rough ride. The videogame franchise has a special place in gamers’ hearts thanks to its mixture of jump scares and puzzles. And there will be plenty of jump scares in the movie by the look of it.

Five Nights of Horror
Produced by Blumhouse (M3GAN, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man), just like the games the movie is based around Hutcherson taking a job as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. However, he soon discovers on his first night on the job, this is no ordinary pizza restaurant.
From the look of the trailer the crossover into film seems to have gone well. It looks menacing and deeply claustrophobic at points, evoking those times players had to crawl through vents to stay alive.
Hutcherson (The Hunger Games series, Bridge to Terabithia) will be joined by Elizabeth Lail (You, Mack & Rita), Piper Rubio (Holly & Ivy, Unstable), Kat Conner Sterling (We Have a Ghost, 9-1-1) and more. Five Nights At Freddy’s will be directed by Emma Tammi (The Wind, Blood Moon). Scott Cawthon, who created the original videogame helped write and produce the film.
Furthermore, it seems as though the iconic animatronic characters are in good hands also. They’ve all been created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
Five Nights At Freddy’s is scheduled to be released in cinemas and on streaming service Peacock on 27th October 2023.
