There’s no denying that the Pals in Pals often strike many similarities to those of Pokémon. However, there are distinct differences. One of the most notable ones being the evolution system. Pals in Palworld don’t evolve in the same manner as Pokémon, however they can still grow in strength. Here’s a guide for how to evolve your Pals in Palworld.

Do Pals Evolve in Palworld?

Being able to level up your Pal is an essential part of the Palworld experience. However, evolving them is a different story. Pals do not evolve in a traditional sense – i.e. the same as in Pokémon games – however, you can create variations of them. To do so, you need to breed Pals. Check out this guide for how to breed Pals in Palworld for everything you need to know about breeding superior versions of each Pal, and also how to breed unique Pals.

There are other methods for improving your Pals however. Key to them is levelling up. By levelling up Pals there are a multitude of benefits that can be found. Every creature is different, but thankfully the requirements to level each one up are all relatively similar. All you need are Experience Points.

There are several ways to gain Experience Points. Below you’ll find a guide to the best ways to level up your Pals in Palworld.

How to Level Up Your Pals

The simplest form of improving Pals in Palworld is by increasing their Experience Points until they level up. Below are several methods, listed in order of effectiveness.

Fighting

The best way to quickly level up Pals is by using them in battle. The higher the difficulty of an enemy, the more Experience Points will be gained for defeating themd. Boss battles, in particular, can be very lucrative for this. Another method is to use a Pal to defeat a dungeon mini-boss. Check out our Palworld Dungeon Guide for more details.

Assign them to Your Party

Whether or not you use Pals in battles or when crafting, etc. as long as they’re in your party, they’ll earn Experience Points. Just playing the game with a Pal in your party will help it to level up over time.

Assign Pals to Your Base

Once you’ve found the best base locations in Palworld, it’s time to get building! Assign a Pal to work on crafting, gathering or any other base activity and they will receive Experience Points. This is a great alternative to having them in your party if you want to level them up, but have more urgent Pals to deal with.

Pal Distillation

A Pal Distillation Pod raises a Pal’s stats quickly. Here, you must sacrifice Pals of the same type to boost your preferred Pal. Each Pal can reach Rank 4. The requirements are below:

  • Rank 1 – 8 Pals.
  • Rank 2 – 16 Pals.
  • Rank 3– 32 Pals.
  • Rank 4 – 64 pals.

Pal Souls

The final method you can use is to collect Pal Souls. These can then be used at a Statue of Power, either in the world or at your own base once you have built one. Much like Pal Distillation, these don’t level up your Pals as such. What they do however, is increase a specific statistic of your choosing.
