Ratalaika Games – the publisher behind Unlife – has announced that its next indie game launch will take place this week. Coming to consoles is Stately Snail’s One More Dungeon 2, bringing its own style to the dungeon crawler roguelike genre.
The original One More Dungeon (2015) was a procedurally generated first-person shooter (FPS). Stately Snail then expanded on that premise in 2022 with One More Dungeon 2 for PC. This time around the two-person studio wanted to create a far more modern experience. Bigger and more challenging, the sequel adds a compelling story, a hub location to explore, boss battles, meta-progression and many new game mechanics and interactive objects.
One More Dungeon 2 on Consoles
Set in a fantasy world, you play a nameless adventurer setting forth into an ancient dungeon full of secrets, traps, and hostile creatures. It’s got all the usual roguelike features you could want. Starting with a ruined fortress that serves as your main hub, there are five different biomes to explore for a total of nine levels.
There’s a story involving giant intelligent snails, a king that’s captured you and the task you need to complete to be set free. And that’s heading into the dungeon under their fortress to kill the creature that has settled there. Because they’re not savages, they arm you with a magic staff and a broken sword to begin with. From there it is up to you to find useful supplies and fight your way through giant bats, bats, skeletons and other enemies.
Alongside the 30 enemy types, you’ll encounter boss battle arenas every couple of levels. Die, and you’ll be sent back to the hub to take stock of your life and, maybe, improve your stats.
One More Dungeon 2 is coming to consoles on 1st March 2024. It will support PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. The game will retail for $14.99 / €14.99 on all platforms
