The Future of Alien

Many may recall news surrounding the possibility of a Neil Blomkamp directed outing for the series. The film was set to take place after the events of Aliens, and would have ignored the continuity of both Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. However, as impressive as the leaked concept art is, this movie was reportedly shelved in favour of Alien Covenant.

Alien Covenant itself was well received by fans, however it failed to live up to expectations at the box office. This resulted in the widespread belief that the franchise would be put on indefinite hiatus. However, ‘indefinite’ turned out to be a relatively short period, as both a new TV series and a new standalone film are reportedly in production. The latter of which is helmed by Fede Álvarez, under the watchful eye of Ridley Scott as producer.

So with a future that certainly looks brighter than it did five years ago, there’s never been a better time to show a friend of loved one exactly why you love the Alien series! The Alien Collection is available via Disnry+ now, and the debate rages on: Alien vs. Aliens – which is your favourite?
