The hype is real. The debut Thor: Love and Thunder trailer was revealed this week, and with it came a great deal of internet discussion. So much so that the trailer surpassed 209 million views in it’s first 24 hours. This makes it the fourth most watched MCU movie trailer, ever.
That number it in the top tier of Marvel trailers for most views in a day. Sitting just behind Avengers: Infinity War (230 million) and Avengers: Endgame (289 million) is impressive. However, the crown still belongs to Spider-Man: No Way Home, which gained in an astonishing 355.5 million views in its first 24 hours.
Backed by the Guns N’ Roses’ classic “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer is nearly two minutes long. It opens with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) getting back into amazing shape. As we all know, ‘fat Thor’ was a popular addition in Avengers: Endgame. The bright, stylish trailer sets the tone for the film in true Taika Waititi form. He directed the popular Thor: Ragnarok, is is now returning to the director’s chair for this fourth Thor MCU film.
The film will also feature the Guardians of the Galaxy and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. You can find the currently revealed Thor: Love and Thunder cast list here.
The Thor: Love and Thunder story will see Natalie Portman reprise her role of Jane Foster. Of course, the biggest moment in the trailer is the conclusion, when Foster is unveiled as Mighty Thor. It’s still unknown how Foster acquires such power, or even how she plays a role in the future of the MCU.
After several delays, the Thor: Love and Thunder release date has been set at 8th July, 2022.
