With Street Fighter 6 on the horizon, the hype for the fighting franchise is reaching fever pitch. Where VR fans are concerned Capcom has a treat in store, the very first Street Fighter VR videogame. However, there are a couple of caveats, it’s an arcade-only experience and it is only available in Japan.
The few details released so far indicate that these aren’t simply random fights against classic characters like Ryu and Zangief. There’s a narrative where you play a new recruit into M Bison’s evil secret society ‘Shadaloo’. You’re then matched up against characters from Street Fighter V, battling each one to become the best.

VR Fighting Gameplay
The Street Fighter VR launch trailer showcases the game in action, where you play from a first-person perspective. A single-player-only experience, icons appear to show weak points during each bout, suggesting when and where to hit your opponents. The video also briefly highlights the ability to perform moves like Hadouken, so there might be other special abilities available.
It is unclear at this time how much depth and replayability the arcade experience has. Reports suggest that there are eight different endings depending on how you play, with the HTC Vive Pro 2 being used.
As mentioned, Street Fighter VR is only available in Japan, with the rollout going through initial testing, to begin with. The Plasa Capcom Hiroshima store began testing last Friday, 17th February. Whilst the MIRAINO AEON MALL Toyokawa store will offer the videogame from Tuesday, 4th April 2023.
