Back in March, Games Workshop teased new details for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar’s Seraphon. This Saturday (21st April) pre-orders go live for the new Seraphon Army Set, and with it the new Slaan Starmaster. If you’re tempted by Warhammer’s Seraphon roster, take a look at the new rules which provide some excellent tactical abilities on the battlefield.

Seraphon Army Set

The all-new Seraphon Army Set with its special edition Battletome: Seraphon comes with 35 warscroll cards, 53 enhancement cards and a set of 60 tokens. As for the models, leading the pack is the Slaan Starmaster accompanied by 10 Saurus Warriors and 10 Raptadon cavalry. The warriors can be equipped with either spears or spiked clubs whilst the cavalry can be built as Chargers or Hunters.

Slaan Starmaster Rules

These giant telepathic amphibians devastate the battlefield with magical spells flung from their floating palanquins. Lord Kroak is the best-known of the Slaan Starmaster’s with the Army Set featuring a new model.

Starmaster rules rely heavily on magic, either buffing allies or cutting great swathes through opponents.

  • Celestial EquilibriumIs a spell that has a casting value of 6. If successfully cast, until the end of the phase, add 1 to casting rolls for friendly WIZARDS other than the caster.
  • Shield of the Old OnesIs a spell that has a casting value of 7. If successfully cast, the caster has a ward of 4+ against mortal wounds until your next hero phase.

Starborne Slann Rules

  • Drain Magic A spell that has a casting value of 6. If successfully cast, until the end of the phase, add 1 to dispelling rolls made by friendly units and subtract 1 from unbinding rolls made by enemy units.
  • Tepok’s BeneficenceA spell that has a casting value of 5 and a range of 18″. If successfully cast, pick 1 friendly SKINK unit wholly within range and visible to the caster. Until the start of your next hero phase, subtract 1 from wound rolls for attacks that target that unit.
  • The Earth TremblesA spell that has a casting value of 8. If successfully cast, pick 1 of the corners of the battlefield and draw a straight line between that corner and the closest part of the caster’s base. Roll a dice for each enemy unit passed across by that line. On a 4+, that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds.

Warhammer’s Seraphon Army Set will be available to pre-order from Saturday 21st April 2023.
