Bandai Namco Entertainment has been sporadically revealing characters from the Tekken 8 roster. After the recent reveal of numerous classic Tekken characters, today we have the final name for the launch line-up: Reina will debut in Tekken 8.

Tekken 8 initial roster is now complete with the announcement of Reina, the last launch character. Reina, the Purple Lightning, is using her lightning quick moves to overwhelm her opponents. She is surrounded by mystery, as the only known fact about her is that she is a student at the Mishima Polytechnical School. She also seems to have a very particular interest in Jin. Especially in fighting him.

The game’s launch roster will count 32 characters with a storyline centered around the fight of Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima. Along those two characters, players will be able to play some fan-favourites like Paul Phoenix and Yoshimitsu, returning characters such as Jun Kazama and Raven, and the three brand-new additions: Azucena, Victor Chevalier and Reina.

According to Bandai Namco Entertainment, all Tekken 8 characters’ models have been completely remade from the ground up. The game will apparently make ‘the most of the latest generation of hardware’. That is, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Unlike the recently released Mortal Kombat 1, there will be no Nintendo Switch release of Tekken 8. Given the backlash to that edition of Mortal Kombat 1 however, that’s probably a good thing.

Tekken 8 initial roster is now complete with the announcement of Reina, the last launch character. That term, ‘launch character’, obviously implies there will be subsequent additions. As if anyone couldn’t have guessed, we can expect the roster to expand with DLC post-launch.

Tekken 8 will launch on 26th January, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Are you excited for the latest King of Iron Fist tournament? Let us know in the comments below!
