During Gamescome 2022, publisher All in! Games revealed its internal development studio, Ironbird Creations was working on hack-n-slash game Phantom Hellcat. The team hasn’t released too many updates since then, but a new treasure trove of Phantom Hellcat screenshots has just arrived.

Letting the cat out

Phantom Hellcat is a slasher-platformer inspired by the likes of Devil May Cry and Jazz Jackrabbit. The story focuses on Jolene, a young woman fighting to save her mother and uncover a secret world of demon hunters. Navigating a dual-reality world set in a ’90s US theatre, players will find combat mixed with strategic exploration, and narrative depth. Jump, dash, and slash your way through enemies then enhance Jolene’s stats and learn new abilities to build up those combo scores.

As to why the long silence. “In these challenging times for the industry, we wanted to let everyone know that we are still hard at work on the game and we are getting closer to its completion,” said Marcin Kawa, Executive Producer in a statement. “Creating a new IP is a significant challenge, so we didn’t want to communicate anything until we were 100% confident in the results of our work.”

“For the past year and a half, the team has put a titanic effort into the project. We are excited that in the coming months, we can share what we have been working on and where we have invested so much energy. We are very proud of both the gameplay and the world we have created,” Alex Godlewska, Game Director, adds.
